Kirsten Lee Rockwood's passion for art started when she was two years old. The living room coffee table became her studio, and the Big Bird chair her favorite location. Her parents supplied this two-year-old with notebooks and pads of drawing paper and, to the astonishment and disapproval of almost everyone else, color markers. Even as a two-year-old, she never used her markers on anything but the designated drawing materials.
When Kirsten was six she had some homework to do, but couldn't get to it because she was busy drawing. When told that she would never learn to read and write if she didn't do her homework, she said "I don't need to read and write. I'm going to be an artist."
Kirsten was born in Atlanta, Georgia. On the elementary and secondary level she attended the following Atlanta private schools: Galloway, Westminster, and Brandon Hall. After that she attended the University of Arizona in Tucson and the Page and Flagstaff campuses of the Coconino Junior College. She is presently working toward a BFA degree at Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff.
